Why Guatemala - by Jeff Kubecka (Board Member)
Why do I support HRI
In 2014 I participated in a mission trip to Guatemala guided by HRI. I was introduced to the beauty of the country and its people. HRI brought me into communities facing great challenges where I met and worked together with residents on projects HRI had initiated. The needs are many, but HRI is focused on ones that resonate with me. With our help, hope can and is being restored.
But isn’t there plenty of need in our own country?
We live in a broken world, and there are needs every where we look. I believe God lays burdens on each of our hearts. It is clear to me that education, and the plight of the orphan in Guatemala is what has been laid heavy on my heart.
The need is so great - do you really feel any amount of money/support sent to Guatemala can make a difference?
I believe that any amount of money/support can make a difference. I believe that because I’ve witnessed it first hand. Whether it is through the letters of thankfulness from a child who is able to attend school because of financial support, or the joyful hugs from an orphan that realizes that there is someone that actually cares about them.
